The Ghana Grid Company has attributed the nationwide blackout that hit the country Thursday night to a fault in one of   the country's transmission lines.

It Chief Executive Officer, William Amuna, in an interview said, Quote " The blackout was due to a disturbance in one of our transmission lines, leading to massive blackout in Accra, Tema and other parts of the country, it is not a generation issue as was the case during the country's energy crises." unquote.

Global Unemployment to worsen -ILO

Global unemployment is expected to worsen over the next two years, according the International Labour Organization (ILO), citing lagging growth in key emerging economies.

In a latest report, the ILO estimated that 197.1 million working-age people were unemployed in 2015, an uptick of 0.7 percent compared to 2014 figures.

"In 2016, the figure is expected to rise by a further 2.3 million, with another 1.1 million people added to the jobless roster in 2017," the report added.

Aluworks Ltd and Starwin Product Limited were the biggest losers of the day, dropping 1p to close at 9p, and 1p to close at 1.45p respectively.., whereas Benso Palm Oil Plantaion Ltd recorded the biggest gains, gaining 19p  to close at 3.00 GHC.
