Jean-Claude Rouget saddled a second consecutive winner in the Coronation Stakes as Qemah landed a famous triumph at Royal Ascot on Friday.

Rouget was in the winners' enclosure 12 months ago when Ervedya claimed victory in the Group One race and it was Qemah, ridden by Gregory Benoist, who gave the French trainer his latest triumph at the world-famous meeting.

Qemah was third in the French 1,000 Guineas last time, but the 6-1 shot showed a great turn of foot and stayed on strongly to win by a length and three quarters from Nemoralia in the big race of the penultimate day at the Berkshire course.

"I was very confident after the French Guineas for this race because I prefer her with a turn," Rouget told Channel 4 Racing.

Jockey Benoist said: "It's amazing for me, like a dream."

Jet Setting, the well-fancied Irish 1,000 Guineas winner, was unable to justify favouritism, finishing back in sixth after attempting to make the running in a week in which she was sold to China Horse Club for £1.3million.

Former jump jockey Dougie Costello was able celebrate a first Group One winner after Quiet Reflection showed rapid pace to charge to take the Commonwealth Cup for trainer Karl Burke.

The 7-4 favourite beat Kachy victory by a length, with Washington Dc finishing back in third.

There was a fourth win of the week for charismatic jockey Frankie Dettori when Across The Stars took the King Edward VII Stakes at 7-1, while prolific trainer Aidan O'Brien claimed a double courtesy of outsider Sword Fighter in the last after Brave Anna won the opener.

Kinema won the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes on another enthralling day of racing.
