Red Bull owner throws doubt over F1 future

Red Bull owner??Dietrich Mateschitz has thrown doubt over the outfit's long-term future in Formula One if they are unable to get a competitive engine.??

The team threatened to leave the sport last year over dramas surrounding engine suppliers, with both Mercedes and Ferrari rejecting Red Bull's??requests for??power units.??

Red Bull were forced to extend their previous deal with Renault to keep their status in F1, however they have been??rebranded as TAG Heuer power units??

But??Mateschitz said the team must be competitive if they are to remain in F1 in the long-term.

"We are too good to be domestiques, Formula One is not the Tour de France,"??the Austrian told Speedweek.

"If we are not competitive from an engine point of view, we will leave. For sure we don???t want to spend the next five years fighting for P5.

"[We want to be] P3 behind the manufacturers??? teams. We should win the fight against the customer teams of Mercedes and Ferrari."
