With standardised canopy protection potentially in the offing from 2017, Ferrari deployed the 'halo' safety device during pre-season testing.

The halo included a central pillar in front of the driver and received mixed reviews from the paddock and fans based on its aesthetics.

The aeroscreen is seen as a potential alternative concept, and Red Bull will complete a lap with it deployed during the opening practice in Sochi on Friday in order to attain driver feedback.
