The bridge was on March 14, 2014, closed to vehicular traffic to allow major rehabilitation to take place.

On Tuesday, the President apologised to commuters for the challenges they encountered during the closure of the Adomi Bridge on the Volta Lake.

According to President Mahama, the ferries which were transporting commuters across the Volta Lake will be decommissioned.

This, he said will remove “the bottle necks that you have been having to cross the lake with ferries for almost one and a half years.”
