Spanish football pundit Graham Hunter has spoken to BBC 5 Live radio in the aftermath of yet another managerial sacking at Real Madrid.

On Monday, after months of non-stop rumours, Florentino Perez sacked Rafa Benitez and appointed Zinedine Zidane as the new Los Blancos coach.

In a remarkable disclosure, it’s now been claimed as “fact” that Real Madrid approached Pep Guardiola beforehand to see if he’d be interested in the job.

Pep, of course, is a Barcelona legend, and it would be almost unthinkable to see he in the white of the Madridistas.

Hunter said: “It’s a fact that six weeks ago they (Madrid) approached him and asked him ‘would you take over?’. That underlines the fact that Pep is seen as the best appointment by every single club.”
