Benetton Treviso's wait for a first win of the Pro12 season continued as they were beaten 18-8 by Italian rivals Zebre.

Tries from Luke Burgess and Giulio Toniolatti proved decisive for Zebre as they put further distance between themselves and Treviso at the bottom of the table, while the boot of Edoardo Padovani added some vital extras.

Carlo Canna and Jayden Hayward exchanged early penalties before Burgess went over for the game's first try in the 33rd minute, the Zebre scrum-half profiting as his pack overpowered Treviso's, giving him a simple score with seven minutes of the half to play.

A penalty from Padovani 15 minutes into the second half extended the visitors' advantage.

However, Treviso bounced back well and after Andrea Pratichetti had been denied a try only by some superb defending, Chris Smylie went over in the corner to cut their deficit to three.

Hayward missed the conversion, though, and that cost Treviso as Toniolatti scored Zebre's second try two minutes later, Padovani making no mistake to add the extra points and complete their win.

The victory lifts Zebre above Newport Gwent Dragons after 11 games, the Italians moving onto 17 points, while Treviso remain bottom with just seven.
