Rider dies after Qatar GP support race crash

Tunisian rider Taoufik Gattouchi died after an incident in the Losail 600 Cup support event at the season-opening Qatar MotoGP.

Race organisers??announced that Gattouchi??was involved in a multi-rider crash at turn three of the Losail circuit on Friday.

The 49-year-old was immediately transported by air ambulance to Hamad hospital in nearby Doha, but he later died.

"Following an incident during the March 18th Losail 600 Cup support race at the Losail International Circuit, it is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of Tunisian rider Taoufik Gattouchi," a MotoGP statement said.

"The FIM, Losail Circuit Sports Club, QMMF, Dorna Sports and the entire MotoGP community wishes to pass on its condolences to the family and friends of Mr Gattouchi."
