Ghana’s Minister of Roads, Kwasi Amoako-Atta has postponed the commissioning of the south leg of the 33-kilometer Kwafokrom-Apedwa road and the Suhum bypass.

This was after some safety concerns were raised by some residents.
Officials from the Ghana Highway Authority, journalists, contractors and residents had waited for the arrival of the minister from 3pm Wednesday till 9:15 pm.
But when the Minister and his entourage arrived, he called off the commissioning saying that “we cannot put people’s lives in danger. We are postponing the commission to next two weeks.”

The road formed part of the major project that was awarded on December 17, 2008 and was scheduled to complete in March 2012.
