It was a debut to remember for Jayden Nikorima, who earned the praise of Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson.

Trent Robinson hailed Jayden Nikorima's impact on his Sydney Roosters debut and felt his side showed great combination work in the 38-12 battering of St Helens in the World Club Series.

Teenager Nikorima was making his Roosters bow at Langtree Park, but played with the composure and assurance of a more seasoned professional.

Aidan Guerra particularly benefitted from the stand-off's showing, ending the match with two of the Roosters' seven tries.

And Robinson saw plenty of positives as Roosters continued preparations for the upcoming NRL season.

"I think he [Nikorima] was trying to introduce himself in the game and did that in a good way," he said.

"It was a good performance, he had good support play, played a good pass for Shaun Kenny-Dowall's try, but also he was good defensively. It was a great start for him."

On Guerra, he added: "Aiden's really stood up in the last year or two, especially in the off-season.

"We've lost senior players and he took it on himself [to step up]."

Robinson feels his side failed to match the same standards that saw them go ahead 22-0 at half-time, but was happy with the combination play the Roosters displayed.

"There were some questions to be answered before the game about different players and new positions. The first half was very good, the second half had good plays maybe not good periods," he added.

"But I thought the combinations between forwards, especially when Isaac Liu came on, him Kane Evans, Dylan Napa, Sam Moa, there was some really good stuff."
