James Hook the hero as Gloucester down Bath

Gloucester moved into fifth place in the Premiership as the boot of James Hook secured a 15-11 victory over Bath on Friday.

Hook kicked five penalties at the Rec as the visitors inflicted a third successive defeat on Bath, a loss that leaves them ninth in the table after 10 matches.

In tough conditions it was Bath who made the more promising start as Dominic Day scored in the 11th minute, moments after Tom Savage had been sin-binned for Gloucester.

The conversion was missed by Tom Homer, who added a penalty eight minutes later as Bath initially made their one-man advantage count.

However, Hook's first kick of the night cut the deficit for the visitors before the break.

Hook and Homer exchanged penalties at the start of the second half, but it was the former who took his chances as he extended Gloucester's advantage with a further nine points.

With time running out Bath piled on the pressure, but were unable to break through the resilient Gloucester defence, Matt Kvesic forcing a late turnover to seal the win.
