Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson is dead

The patriarch of the Jackson family passed away at the age of 89 on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles.

He had been in the hospital for terminal pancreatic cancer, according to media reports.

Joe Jackson died two days after the ninth anniversary of the demise of his megastar son, Michael, who died on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50.

The family patriarch played a large role in the careers of the Jackson 5, as well as Michael and Janet Jackson.

His death was confirmed on social media by some of his family, including his daughter La Toya Jackson and grandsons Taj and Randy Jackson.
