Sebastien Ogier brands WRC 'boring' and 'a joke'

Three-time defending World Rally champion Sebastien Ogier has branded the series "boring" and "a joke" in a scathing attack.

Volkswagen driver Ogier has long been a critic of running order regulations, with the Frenchman feeling that the current system - which requires the championship leader to run first on days one and two of any round - penalises success.

Tensions boiled over in Argentina last weekend when Ogier and eventual winner Hayden Paddon clashed over the issue in a public argument.

Speaking to Autosport, Ogier said: "I am so bored of talking about this. I just wanted to finish this rally and go home to think about something else.

"Rallying is quite boring for me at the moment. We get good points [for second], but where is the sport?

"Yes, we can be champion again, but I know we deserve more than this.

"It's completely unfair and not how the championship should be for me to run first on the road 80 per cent of the time.

"The problem is that it only comes from me and it's the same story, but my point of view is always the same.

"For me, year after year, this championship is getting more and more a joke."

Ogier currently sits 39 points clear of Paddon at the top of the drivers' standings, while the regulations are set to be reviewed by the FIA at the end of the season.
