Perhaps spurred on by the Cronut craze of 2013, doughnuts have become steadily more adventurous.

No 'weird doughnuts' list could be complete without the famous Cronut.

India's Donut House recently launched a doughnut topped with shredded cheese and chilli flake topping.

That is just one example out of many.

In Thailand, a Mister Donut shop offers customers "Sushido", that's doughnuts that look like sushi.

Another gem from the Donut House is the Southern spice is donut topped with southern spices, cut green chilli and thyme.

Most people wouldn't look to KFC for a fish based meal, but they went ahead and created fish doughnuts anyway.

Served with dried pork and seaweed pieces, who would have thought donuts would include such ingredients.

Doughnut experimentation knows no bounds as Foie Gras doughnut, served by the folks at Brooklyn's Do Or Dine restaurant, is filled with duck liver, concord grape jam, and then topped with sea salt and powdered sugar - a true luxury doughnut.
