Patrons of Tedx Spintex Women were treated to inspiring messages and true life stories from a-list speakers on Saturday October 29 at the British Council in Accra.
The much anticipated event saw leading female voices in the media, corporate communications and women's advocacy, inspire a roomful of men and women inline with the theme of this year's event, Break Out To Stand Out.
The speakers included veteran actress Rama Brew (who spoke about a struggle with Rheumatoid arthritis while at the height of her career), radio and TV presenter Anita Erskine (who spoke about working with, for and advocating for women) and Juliette Mills-Lutterodt, a campaigner for earlier detection of breast cancer through her organisation Pink for Africa. Corporate executive Maame Dufie Cudjoe's presentation, Own your FIERCE, encourage the audience to face failure head-on, while Brittany Garth and Asabea Agbenu spoke about how they dealt with being broke.
The December 7 general elections were also not far away as Iso Paelay, a Sierra Leonean-Liberian actor, used his life story to preach the need for peace in Ghana. Between the different speakers was entertainment from urban music artist, Sedi Adayi, saxophonist Paa Nii and a didactic skit about the importance of patience.
The next event from Tedx Spintex Women is She Share, a mentorship programme targeted at girls in senior high school.
