Six new venues for India Tests

Rajkot, Vizag, Pune, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Indore have been given the green light to hosts India Tests for the first time.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that six venues will host India Tests for the first time in the upcoming domestic season.

Test cricket will be played at Rajkot, Vizag, Pune, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Indore during a season which includes as many as 13 matches in the longest format of the game, with dates still to be confirmed.

New Zealand will be the opponents for the historic first Test in Indore, with the Black Caps also facing MS Dhoni's side in Kanpur and Kolkata in the opening series of the Indian domestic season.

Mohali, Rajkot, Mumbai, Vizag and Chennai will be the venues for the five-match Test series against England, before Australia take on India in Bengaluru, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Pune.

India are also set to face Bangladesh in a one-off Test at Hyderabad.

BCCI president of the BCCI, Anurag Thakur said: "I welcome the new Test venues hosting this prestigious format of cricket and their arrival will take Test match cricket to every corner of the country."

In addition to the Test series', India will play five one-day internationals against New Zealand and three versus England, as well as three Twenty20 matches against Eoin Morgan's side.
