The 24-year-old is returning to Sri Lanka after undergoing scans on Tuesday, needing rest for up to four months.

Dhammika Prasad has also returned to his homeland with a shoulder injury.

Sri Lanka are expected to name a replacement in the next 24 hours, with the second Test starting on Friday.
