Thai tennis player Jatuporn Nalamphun has been suspended for 18 months and fined US$5,000 after admitting betting on matches, the Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) revealed on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old, who has never been given an ATP world ranking, pleaded guilty to three breaches of Section D.1.a of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) - which prohibits betting on tennis matches - between July and November 2014.

Nalamphun was initially suspended for six months, but his ban was extended by a year as a result of his failure to co-operate with a Tennis Anti-Corruption investigation.

The sanctions come just a week after two tennis officials were banned on match-fixing charges and it was announced that another four are under investigation.

An Independent Review Panel is to analyse the effectiveness of TACP, the TIU and the Tennis Integrity Protection Programme and recommend any changes, with a full report expected to take at least a year.
