World number eight Sergio Garcia could not hold back his frustration after completing his opening round of the U.S. Open, with the Spaniard slamming the greens at Chambers Bay Golf Club.

Garcia, who posted an even-par 70 that included three bogeys and three birdies, claimed the U.S. Open "deserves better" than the greens served up in University Place.

The greens on the links course looked patchy on the broadcast, and Garcia argued they are just as bad to play on.

"Happy with my even par round today although it could've been a bit better by the way I played but this [sic] greens are as bad as the look on TV," Garcia wrote on Twitter.

"I think a championship of the caliber [sic] of @usopengolf deserves better quality green surfaces that we have this week but maybe I'm wrong!

"If my problem is saying what everyone thinks but they don't have the guts to say it, then I'm guilty of that for sure."
