No warrant for Oscar Pistorius' arrest - NPA
South Africa's National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed no arrest warrant has been issued for Oscar Pistorius.
In October 2014, the Paralympic gold medallist was handed a five-year jail term for the culpable homicide of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp but was released on house arrest after serving a fifth of his sentence.
However, following an appeal from the prosecution " arguing the application of the law in his trial was not correct " a panel of five judges deemed him guilty of murder on Thursday.
Local media outlets reported on Friday that a warrant for Pistorius' arrest had been issued by the NPA, with the South African set to return to court for a fresh sentencing.
However, AFP received confirmation that this is not the case, despite a desire to get the 29-year-old back in court as quickly as possible.
Pistorius remains with family under house arrest in Pretoria, with a date for the reconvening of the case yet to be announced.
The minimum sentence for murder in South Africa is 15 years.
