Josh Mantellato dramatically rescued a point for Hull KR on Sunday as Castleford Tigers were held to a 16-16 draw in their Super League season-opener at Craven Park.

The Tigers lost skipper Michael Shenton to an apparent knee injury in the first half, but appeared set to overcome that setback to kick off the new campaign with a win - thanks largely to two tries from Jake Webster.

However, Mantellato crossed in the left corner with seconds remaining for his second try of the afternoon.

And the Australian winger landed the subsequent conversion after the hooter to earn Rovers a share of the spoils.

Sunday's other match saw Widnes Vikings run out 24-16 winners at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Setaimata Sa contributed two tries on his debut for the Vikings, who led 18-4 at the break but found their hosts a trickier proposition in the second period.
