Minerals Commission boss asked to proceed on leave

Dr Aubynn disclosed the news to staff and management of the commission at a brief meeting Monday morning.

The government has directed the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Dr. Toni Aubynn to proceed on leave.

Sources say the news came as a shock to the staff even though such changes are expected when there is a transfer of political power.

Nevertheless, Dr Aubynn urged the workers to give his successor their maximum support as they did give him during his tenure.
Dr. Aubynn replaced Mr. Benjamin Aryee in 2014.

Before his appointment to the commission by the John Mahama administration, Dr Aubynn was the CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
