Top 14: Leaders Clermont keep Toulon at bay

Clermont Auvergne maintained their position at the summit of the Top 14 as they cruised to a 38-10 win over rock-bottom Agen on Saturday.

Fijian winger Alifereti Raka scored two of the home side's six tries, with Judicael Cancoriet, David Strettle, Camille Gerondeau and Noa Nakaitaci also finding the line.

Toulon remain second after bouncing back from last week's Champions Cup disappointment at the hands of Racing 92 with a hard-fought 25-9 victory at Pau.

A penalty try and a brace from fullback Delon Armitage enabled Bernard Laporte's men to see off the hosts, who replied through penalties from Damien Traille (2) and Colin Slade.

Brive, meanwhile, proved too good for struggling Oyonnax who were thumped 31-13 at Stade Amedee Domenech.

The visitors only trailed 7-6 at the break, but were swept aside in the second half, with Poutasi Luafutu, Lucas Pointud and Chris Tuatara-Morrison all touching down to secure a bonus-point win for the home side.

Saturday's tightest clash came in the mid-table tussle at the Stade Marcel-Deflandre where La Rochelle saw off Bordeaux-Begles 22-15.

Hikairo Forbes scored the only try of the game for the hosts, with Australian utility-back Zack Holmes adding a further 17 points with the boot.

Pierre Bernard kept Bordeaux in the contest by landing five penalties, but their cause was not helped by the loss of both Berend Botha and Peter Saili to yellow cards.
