Oyonnax are enduring a dismal season,??sitting??rock bottom of the French top flight, and showed no sign of being able to haul themselves off the foot of the division in a poor home display against Montpellier.

Quentin Etienne sent the hosts in front with a penalty at Stade Charles-Mathon, before tries from Ben Lucas and Paul Willemse saw Montpellier into a 14-3 lead at the break, capping??an opening period in which three players were sent to the sin bin.

Jody Jenneker's try early in the second half gave 14-man Oyonnax hope, but they were pegged back once again by a Benjamin Fall score and failed to make any further dent in??the deficit - even after returning to their full complement of players.

And Bismarck du Plessis rounded off the scoring 16??minutes from time, with Demetri Catrakilis adding the extras to take his total tally to 11.

The result sees Montpellier climb to fifth and enhances their hopes of reaching the end-of-season play-offs.
