Captain of Ghana’s Under-17 national team, Eric Ayiah, is set to join Ghana Premier League side Liberty professionals.
Reports suggest that the young striker has agreed personal terms with the Dansoman-based club, and his signing will be confirmed in the coming days.
Ayiah – who currently plays for Division One side Charity Stars – has been linked to a number of European clubs after his eye-catching performances at the 2017 U-17 World Cup in India.
The 17-year-old netted thrice in the competition as Ghana exited at the quarter-final stage. He was also instrumental in the Black Starlets team that won Silver at the U-17 Africa Nations Cup hosted in Gabon.
The report further suggests that Ayiah will play for just a season with Liberty Professionals, before joining Italian club Udinese in 2018/19.
Liberty are known for nurturing young talents, with the likes of Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Derek Boateng all rising through the ranks at Dansoman-based club.
Ayiah will be expected to follow in the footsteps of Latif Blessing, who won emerged goal king and best player in the domestic league while playing for Liberty.
