Citing the reason for the sack, Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid said he noted several security deficiencies during a visit to the museum.
The police chiefs of Tunis and the museum were among those dismissed, even as the Islamic State has since claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, 2 of the gunmen were killed by the security forces, while a 3rd is on the run, President Beji Caid Essebsi however assured that he won't get far.
A spokes person for President Essebsi said a monument for the victims of the museum attack would be erected.
