Kvitova had been without a coach after ending her seven-year partnership with David Kotyza following January's second-round exit at the Australian Open.

But the Czech 2011 and 2014 Wimbledon winner confirmed Cermak's appointment via her official Instagram account on Thursday.

"Happy to confirm that #teampetra has a new member," Kvitova wrote.

"Frantisek Cermak will be my new coach going forward. Welcome Franta! [selfie in the car on the way to Stuttgart!]."

Kvitova, who is 6-8 this season after failing to reach the last 16 in Miami, will team up with Cermak at next week's WTA Tour event in Stuttgart.
