The Judicial Board of the University of Ghana Student’s Representative Council is yet again faced with a petition to put an injunction on the SRC elections.

This petition has been filled by a disqualified financial treasurer aspirant, Alfred Kwadwo Torsu who complained about the vetting process.

He accused the vetting panel of being biased and prejudiced towards him.

His disqualification came as a result of him obtaining 67.44% failing to meet the pass mark of 70%.

Speaking on Accra-based Radio Univers, he claimed that the members of the panel had their own personal agenda of discrediting him, which is what informed his decision to file a suit to challenge the results.

Citing an example, he questioned why the panel asked questions pertaining to a personal quarrel he had with a Junior Common Room (JCR) president of Kwapong hall.

The Electoral Commissioner, Rexford Opare debunked these arguments and said Torsu has no case.

He reiterated that the vetting was fair and unbiased and that Torsu’s disqualification was because he didn’t meet the mark not on any preconceived agenda.

He however, noted that he has nothing against him petitioning the court if he feels he should.

Torsu has appealed the Chief Justice to be expedient in their verdict so as not to halt the process for long.
