NPP calls bluff of Invisible Force threat

The position of the NPP comes in the wake of claims by the vigilante group that its members have been abandoned by the party after helping it win power.

The governing New Patriotic Party has described as empty threats by its vigilante group, Invisible Force that it will be left with no option, but to engage in riot reminiscent of the widely condemned lawlessness that took place in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi shortly after the 2016 general elections.

According to the group, party officials who promised its members jobs prior to the elections decline to answer phone calls from them lately.

"Please, if they will not give us work to do, what happened at Kumasi, the same thing will happen here… We are even ashamed. Some of us, we are walking in the sun and they are laughing at us. Is that how the party is supposed to treat us?"

“We mobilized ourselves to come and meet you and you promised us that there are some jobs on the way coming, we exchanged numbers with those that were supposed to employ us. I have called them for almost two months now, nobody is ready to answer my calls”.

“And we are the soldiers and will still be the soldiers. Please, we want to tell our people, if they will not give us jobs to do, what happened in Kumasi will happen in Accra”.

“We are even ashamed, some of us are home and they are laughing at us.”

However, in a rather shocking response, acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu said the party is fed up with the threats.

According to him, the joblessness that the Invisible Force members are complaining about is not peculiar to them alone. He cautioned that “We will deal with anybody who feels that he can take the law into his owns hands.”
