WADA revokes Russia Anti-Doping Centre accreditation

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has revoked the accreditation of the Moscow Anti-Doping Centre due to non-compliance with the International Standard for Laboratories (ISL) and suspended a facility in Portugal.

The laboratory in Russia was initially suspended in November following a recommendation in a report published by an independent commission established by WADA, which made allegations of 'state-sponsored doping'.

WADA's executive committee has taken the decision to rescind the centre's accreditation following a thorough review by an independent disciplinary panel, with the laboratory found to be non-compliant with the ISL.

The revocation comes into force immediately and prevents the laboratory from "carrying out the testing of doping control samples on behalf of any testing authority".

WADA has also suspended the accreditation of the Laboratorio de Analises de Dopagem (LAD) in Lisbon after it failed to meet the ISL requirements, though no details were supplied.

The facility in Portugal is now prohibited from carrying out any WADA-related anti-doping activities, but has the opportunity to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. A further decision regarding a possible revocation of accreditation will be made by the executive committee.
