Waqar Younis calls for positive Pakistan at World T20

Pakistan coach Waqar Younis hopes his team can return to form and overcome recent hiccups at the World Twenty20 in India.

Security concerns led to Pakistan's departure being delayed, with their clash against India on March 19 moved to Kolkata.

Speaking on Friday ahead of his team's departure, Waqar was pleased that was all behind them as they bid to win the tournament for a second time.

"It is good we are going to India to play cricket and we are looking at our visit there in a positive light," he told a news conference.

"The players want to do well and cheer up their legions of fans."

Pakistan must overcome scratchy recent form to have any chance of adding to their 2009 crown, having failed to reach the Asia Cup final in the lead-up.

In their two T20 series before that, Pakistan went down to New Zealand (2-1) and England (3-0).

"In the last six months our form has kept on slipping but I think the World T20 gives us a very good platform to bounce back strongly," Waqar said.

Pakistan open their campaign against a qualifier on Wednesday.
