Warriors get revenge on Rhinos in Super League win

Dominic Manfredi was the star for the Warriors as they avenged the 22-20 loss in last season's showpiece, setting up the game's first try with a magnificent length-of-the-field run that allowed John Bateman to dive over from dummy half.

That served as the only score of the first half as Wigan struggled to break down a dogged Rhinos defence, but Oliver Gildart's excellent finish in the left-hand corner in the 57th minute opened the floodgates.

Manfredi was the beneficiary of some slick ball handling from the hosts as he crossed five minutes later, with Tony Clubb and Anthony Gelling adding further tries before Zak Hardaker's late consolation.

The win maintained Wigan's 100 per cent record to start the season, while defending champions Leeds have just two points from their first five games.

In Friday's other game, St Helens trounced Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, playing their first game since head coach Brian Smith's shock resignation, 44-4.

St Helens ran in eight tries to make it four wins from five to start the season.
