Wiggins: Olympic success eclipses Tour de France win

Bradley Wiggins says his success at the Olympic Games comfortably outweighs his Tour de France victory in 2012.

The former Team Sky rider has won four gold medal for Great Britain at the Olympics, the last coming in the time trial at London 2012, weeks after he had claimed the Tour's yellow jersey.

Wiggins claimed two track golds four years earlier in Beijing to add to the individual pursuit title he won in Athens in 2004.

He is now hoping to make a fifth appearance at the Games in 2016 as part of the track squad, saying success at the global event is the pinnacle of his career.

"It's an Olympic Games, at the end of the day, and to represent your country at the Olympics is about as good as it gets," he told Sky Sports News. "Put a gold medal on top of that and it doesn't ever get any better.

"That hasn't changed for me since Sydney 15 years ago.

"This is my fifth Olympics and that buzz and that feeling I get in the run-up to it, and the whole thing surrounding the Olympics, is still the same.

"It's still the height of every four years for me, regardless of Tours de France and everything; it's all about the Olympics."
