Zimbabwe's Brian Vitori banned for illegal action

Zimbabwe's Brian Vitori has been banned from bowling in international cricket by the ICC after an independent assessment deemed his action illegal.

Left-arm seamer Vitori was reported for a suspect action after the third Twenty20 international against Bangladesh in January.

Following an independent review in Chennai, the 25-year-old's action has been deemed illegal after "the assessment revealed that all variations of his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the [ICC] regulations".

The ban comes into effect immediately and will be recognised by all national cricket federations, but Vitori will be permitted to play in domestic events in Zimbabwe providing consent is given from the national organising body.

Vitori - left out of the Zimbabwe squad for the World Twenty20 in India next month - can apply for re-assessment after modifying his bowling action.

Since making his international debut in 2011, Vitori has played four Tests, 19 one-day internationals and 11 T20Is for Zimbabwe.
