Give us time to fix the economy – Freddie Blay
The acting National Chairman of NPP Freddie Blay described the economy handed over to them as the worst any government has inherited in the history of Ghana.

Speaking to Accra-based Asempa FM, Freddie Blay said the NPP government inherited a messed up economy from the erstwhile Mahama-led administration. He described the economy handed over to them as the worst any government has inherited in the history of Ghana.
He stated that, as at the beginning of 2009, Ghana’s total debt stock was GH₵9.5 billion but by the end of 2016, the debt stock had ballooned to GH₵122 billion representing 72 percent of GDP – a situation he described as worrying.

However, Blay said he was hopeful Nana Addo is committed to tackling the problems.
He, therefore, called on the general public to support the government in order to realise this dream.
“Our economy is in difficulty and it is, therefore, time for all of us to put our shoulders to the wheel; work hard and have the appropriate policies in place that will enable us to lift our economy and bring relief to our population.”

On the appointees of the government, Blay said: “I’m more than confident they will deliver.”

When the Nana Addo took office as President of Ghana, he promised to hit the ground running saying that "I am in a hurry."
However, some party members have started arguing for more time since they inherited a weak economy.
