The deceased was buried last weekend amidst pomp and pageantry at her hometown in Babianiha, Brong Ahafo Region which has sparked a lot of controversies on social media and a section of the public.

Chief amongst the issues is the erection of a monumental edifice as a tomb to house the corpse which was financed by the children of the deceased.

Responding to a post by social commentator and TV presenter, Kwame Gyan on the issue via social media, the outspoken actress said she did not find an issue with the way someone chooses to mourn their loved ones.

According to her, it was petty for people to make this issue because it was irrelevant.

“Come on Kwame. I don’t get what this has to do with anything. How someone chooses to mourn or bury a loved one is entirely up to them no matter how ridiculous we may think it is.

"You can’t and shouldn’t compare how people bury their loved ones, that’s way below the belt. You know we can talk about issues without being petty, and dragging people’s personal lives and decisions into the mix.

"This is how important issues lose their importance because we focus on all the wrong things. We pick at every single hair and become so petty that the REAL issue is overlooked. This is so not right I’m sorry.”

The family of the late businesswoman who was a successful cocoa farmer in the region and other areas until her untimely death said they had planned to do more for their mother but rescinded the decision due to the attacks their brother, Dr Opuni would receive if they did.

Dr Opuni is under investigation by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for the period he served as the head of one of Ghana’s key state agencies.

His accounts have since been frozen to expedite the investigation and prevent him from obstructing justice.

Despite his wealth and prominence, his other siblings are also well off and could have raised the edifice without his involvement.

Dr Opuni, a medical officer at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, two engineers based in the United States and others make up the list of siblings he has.
