Jealous girlfriend and lover in court for obscenity
Chantel, the current girlfriend of Kayode Kalode admitted sending photo shopped nude pictures of the complainant on to social media out of jealousy
Chantel Nunekpeku and her boyfriend Kayode Kalode, a music producer are said to have photo-shopped the complainant’s pictures and placed same on somebody’s nude pictures.
They are currently on a GH¢10,000.00 bail with two sureties, to reappear on September 5 after they both pleaded not guilty to the charges when they appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Counsel for the complainants, Mr Andy K Vortia at the commencement of the trial on Tuesday objected to tendering of some documents from the complainant. He argued that the documents did not have dates on them and their authenticity was questionable.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo therefore prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable the prosecution put its house in order
Narrating to the court, she said the complainant, Destina Tata resides at Awoshie in Accra whiles the accused reside at Sowutuom, all suburbs of Accra.
ASP Agnes Boafo told the court that the complainant was ex-girlfriend of Kalode, and on January 23, this year, Chantel took the pictures of the complainant which she uploaded from social media and photo shopped them with somebody’s nude picture and created the impression that the pictures were those of the complainant.
She said the pictures were then posted on Instagram and they went viral with the complainant’s name attached to them.
According to the prosecutor, the act caused the complainant emotional and psychological trauma, thereby undermining her integrity, privacy, dignity and her worth as a human being.
According to the prosecution, the complainant reported the case to the Police and the accused persons were arrested.
Chantel admitted sending photo shopped nude pictures of the complainant on to social media and that she did that out of jealousy. She revealed this during interrogation by the Police.
