Man chops off wife's hand for spending too much time at a funeral

Musa Matiko is reportedly beat up 50-year old Maria Rioba Musa with a machete and chopped off her hand and left her in a pool of blood unattended.

The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred at Tarang’anya village in Migori County.

Musa Matiko is reported by the Africanspotlight.com as having beaten up 50-year old Maria Rioba Musa with a machete and chopped off her hand, leaving her in a pool of blood after the woman reportedly spent three days at the said funeral, saying there was no body to cook for him.

Narrating her ordeal from the hospital bed, the mother of eight and breadwinner of the family said “I stayed at the funeral for three days and left on the fourth. When I got home he asked me who I thought was supposed to be cooking for him on the three days I was away. Previously when we fought he would even beat me up with a rod, but on that day he beat me up with a panga.”

The victim’s daughter, Catherine Musa who is currently a first year student in teachers training college corroborated the incident saying, “I was in school when I received a call after the incident, so I left the following morning to come see my mother. She is in such a bad state I’ve had to to put my studies on pause to be with her at the hospital.”

Though the incident has not yet been reported to the police, the Migori Police Commander, Joseph Nthenge said his outfit would be following up on the case to ensure the perpetrator is brought to book.
