Industrialist designs a mirror that only works until the user smiles to it

The high-tech mirror only works when the user smiles to it. It was invented by a Turkish Industrialist, Berk Ilhan.

However, aside the high cost of the mirror, one spectacular thing about it is the fact that it only works when the user smiles to it.

That is the essence of inventing the mirror in the first place. It is meant to ensure that people especially cancer patients smile consistently so as to ostensibly to improve their health.

Berk Ilhan said in an interview with CNN that “She told me in the first days after her diagnosis, it was difficult for her to look in the mirror and acknowledge she had cancer.”

He further explained that “Our facial expressions affect how we feel. If we flex our facial muscles to smile, our brains think that something good happened and as a result, [we feel] happiness.

“I learned morale and social support are two very important factors that can positively change a patient’s experience.”

The ‘smile’ mirror currently costs $2000-$3000, but Berk Ilhan hopes to reduce the price further to $500 in the near future and even distribute it free of charge to some hospitals if financially feasible.
