Balsamic vinegar adds more flavour to our salads, it may also help control diabetes as it is known to improve insulin sensitivity. It can also aid in weight loss and weight management because of its appetite suppressing properties. Balsamic vinegar contains powerful antioxidant called polyphenols which boost our immune system and metabolism.

INGREDIENTS

  1.  I head romaine Lettuce
  2.  1/2 cup cherry tomatoes
  3. 1 large tomato
  4. 2 medium sized cucumbers
  5. Spring onion
  6. 1 small red onion
  7. I cup mixed bell peppers(red, green and yellow)
  8. 1/2 tbsp black pepper -optional

Now for the dressing

  1. 1 tbsp olive oil
  2. 1 tbsp Balsamic vinegar
  3. 2 tbsp refined/clear honey
  4. 1 large garlic clove (crushed and chopped)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Wash the lettuce leaves in salt or vinegar solution. Also wash all your vegetables.
  2. Pat them with a clean napkin or paper napkin to absorb excess moisture.
  3. Tear the lettuce leaves into bite-sized pieces with your hands into a large salad bowl.
  4. Peel your cucumbers. Slice it in half along the elongated part and remove the seeds. Now cut it up into chunky half moon shapes and pour into the bowl.
  5. Add your cherry tomatoes.
  6. Cut your tomatoes into thin wedges. You can make them thick but since we already have our whole cherry tomatoes, we can go for thin slices.
  7. Finely chop your spring onions and add it to your salad.
  8. For that extra sharp taste, cut your red onion into thin slices and pour into your salad.
  9. Add your cup of mixed bell peppers chopped.
  10. Sprinkle with a little black pepper to taste.

Dressing

  1. Whisk oil, vinegar, honey and garlic in a bowl.
  2. Drizzle on salad!
