Many Ghanaians are fuming after the sum of a controversial OBS software procured by SSNIT was made public.

The software was to help in networking all branches of SSNIT across the country to enable them to receive real-time data directly from the headquarters in Accra and enhance efficiency.

The contract was awarded to Perfect Business Solutions Limited for the installation of automation processes at the Trust.

It was to provide superior services to SSNIT customers, reduce member enrolment cycle through forms, provide effective reporting solution, achieve real time processing of contribution reports and reduce benefit processing time.

Initially, the sum of the contract was $34 million but within a four-year period it rose to over $72 million.

Dr Ofori Tenkorang said the Trust is paying more for the software because they experienced intermittent challenges that required technicians to rectify.

Dr Tenkorang said the $72 million included the cost of the original tender, subsequent modifications, and yearly support fees.

He added that the $72 million cost will continue increasing until the system is fully deployed and works effectively.
