All is set for the inauguration of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, Deputy Local Government Minister, Emmanuel Agyekum, has said.

The inauguration which will be done by President Mahama will allow the various MMDAs to commence full operations.

This has been necessitated by pressure on government to inaugurate the assemblies so that it can meet the deadline for the submission of composite budgets.

Speaking on Accra-based Citi Fm, the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Emmanuel Agyekum debunked claims that the government ‘has not made any provision to facilitate the inauguration’ hence the delays.

Mr. Agyekum further explained due to the delay in the elections held on September 1 this year, three districts including the Nkoranza North and South in the Brong Ahafo region as well as another district in the Eastern Region will not be inaugurated.
