An Appeals court in Kumasi has freed five members of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, who were sentenced to life imprisonment after a clash in Tamale which resulted in the death of Rashid Alhassan, a youth activist of the NDC.

Court frees NPP activist sentenced to death by hanging
The Tamale High court presided over by Justice Lawrence Mensah in 2013, sentenced a youth activist of the NPP Yakubu Yahuza to death by hanging.

Speaking to Accra-based Citi FM, he believed the judges were intimidated during the proceeding at the time by the NDC, hence their judgment was not independent.
"Now that the case has been taken to Tamale, justice has been served", he added.
