The suspension follows a disciplinary action opened against Francis Sosu by the General Legal Council

Sam Okudzeto questions decision to overturn Sosu's ban

He said the General Legal Council arrived at its final decision because the lawyer was found for breaching professional rules.

Francis-Xavier Sosu has been banned from practicing as lawyer by the General Legal Council for advertising himself which is against the GLC Professional Conduct and Etiquette Rules, 1969 (LI 613).

He was accused of personal advertisement while acting as Council for Torgbui Afede XIV, in a matter between Torgbui Afede and the Chief of Defense Staff, minister of interior, Attorney General.

According to the disciplinary briefing seen by Pulse.com.gh, he took to Facebook with pictures of the parties and comments on the case to the public with his firm’s name, address and telephone numbers attached, with the primary motive of personal advertisement and touting.

Some Ghanaians have described the ban on the legal practitioner as excessive and harsh with some calling on the General Legal Council to review the three-year-ban imposed on the human rights lawyer.

But Sam Okudzeto speaking in an interview on Accra-0based Joy FM said, "You know something funny? He was my student, many of them are my students…they come daily to the committee and I look at their face and say was that what I taught you?.

"If we are not harsh and tough in disciplining them, then what we are doing is opening the floodgate so everybody can do what they like".

He said the conduct of the lawyer deserves the sanction.
