Police urges public to remain calm

The assailants shot and killed the policeman on duty, before freeing seven other suspected criminals who were being held in the cells.

The issue has sparked fear among many Ghanaians, especially with the suspects now roaming on the streets.

However, addressing the press, the Greater Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afia Tenge, called on the public to remain calm.

She assured that the situation is under control and that the Police is doing its best to apprehend the perpetrators.

“The police is containing the situation, the situation is under control and we are doing everything we can to bring the perpetrators to book, to get them arrested.

“So for now, we have to assure the public that we are doing everything humanly possible to get these suspects arrested and also give the general public the needed security,” she stated.

Meanwhile the Police has put out the names of the inmates who were aided to escape from the Kwabenya Police station.

They are Dickson Ofori, 24, Chibuzor Akwabu, 34, Edem Rockson, 32, Prince Osei 27, Emanuel Kotey, 21, Kofi Darko, 21 and Attah Kwadwo, 20.
