Alan, Agyarko, others face vetting committee

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen – Trade Minister-designate will be the first to appear before the committee, followed by Boakye Agyarko, who will head the Energy ministry.

Alima Mahama – Local Government and Rural Development Minister-designate, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto – Agriculture Minister-designate will also face the vetting committe.

Article 78 (1) of the Constitution provides that nominees by the President for ministerial appointments have to be approved by Parliament before they can act or hold themselves out as ministers or deputy ministers of state.

So far, Senior Minister-designate Yaw Osafo Maafo, Finance Minister-designate Ken Ofori-Atta, Attorney-General & Justice Minister-designate Gloria Akuffo, Minister-designate for the Interior Ambrose Dery, Defence Minister-designate Dominic Nitiwul and Albert Kan-Dapaah, Minister-designate of National Security have been vetted by the committe in Parliament.

On Tuesday January 24, 2017 Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Minister-designate of Foreign Affairs; Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, Minister-designate, Education; and Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Minister-designate, Health will be vetted.

A 26 man vetting committee has been put in place to vet the nominees.
