Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday 12 April, he said the NDC will unite and emerge stronger, having learnt their lessons.

The NDC, since its defeat in the 2016 general elections has seen a lot of divisions and chaos as it seeks to find out the reasons for its defeat.

Many supporters have criticised their executives from the constituency to national level as having mismanaged campaign resources which caused their defeat.

But Kofi Portuphy said the NDC will bounce back.

He added that "The NDC can do it again, not in eight years but, God willing, in four years. Why am I optimistic that the NDC can bounce back in 2020? Don’t we hear Ghanaians expressing regret that they have exchanged their colour TVs for black-and-white? Don’t we hear expressions of anger from trotro and taxi drivers over incessant increases in fuel prices contrary to what Nana Akufo-Addo promised them during their campaign? Don’t we hear the anger and disappointment of parents who are now being told by President Akufo-Addo that the Free SHS is not free for all SHS students?"

"Yes, indeed the chickens have come home to roost. The sweet-sounding promises and deceitful nature of Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP have caught up with them and are daily being exposed for what they are and the selfish interest they represent."

"The NDC will be back," he added.
