Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has said the former Zimbabwean leader, has disgraced his country and the entire leadership of the continent for overstaying his presidency.
Recalling his working visit to Zimbabwe, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu said: âI worked in Zimbabwe during 1988/89. Zimbabwe then can be compared to some foreign countries. Zimbabwe was like South Africa to me then. But my visit to the country again in the year 2000, I wept, the place was really bad. Almost everything there was in a bad state. It was sad, even clean drinking water was a problem for the people.â
âZimbabwe was the bread basket of the southern African region. They supplied most African countries with foodstuffs. But itâs hard for them now to feed themselves. Even common bread, people canât afford. An insolvent country I will call them in recent time. Itâs a disgrace,â he said.
Robert Mugabe, on Tuesday resigned from his position after ruling the southern African country for 37 years since 1980.
