UPDATE: Another explosion shakes Atomic Junction as fires keep blazing

Pulse.com.gh has learnt of a gas explosion at Atomic Junction in Madina and that the ensuing fire has spread from the junction to the frontgate of the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School.

A gas station at Atomic Junction in Madina exploded on Saturday, 7th October.

The explosion occurred 7:30PM in the evening and first hand reports are outlining severe damages.

Currently, the cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained but sources say tell Pulse.com.gh the explosion occurred from a gas container at the filling station setting the entire fuel station ablaze.

According to eyewitness reports, a huge ball of flame went up immediately after they heard a loud sound of explosion in the area. Several properties are reportedly up in flames with many fearing the explosion could be fatal.

Pulse.com.gh has learnt that the ensuing fire has spread from the Atomic Junction to the frontgate of the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School.

The gas station, located close to the GOIL fuel station at Atomic Junction, exploded before the fuel station later caught up in flames.

Unconfirmed reports have stated that about 4 cars have currently been burnt to the ground.

Pulse.com.gh has come across a video which showed some residents of Madina reportedly "running" away from the city in the wake of the explosion and fire outbreak.

The Legon - Madina stretch has been closed and traffic redirected.

Eyewitness reports state that the flames can be seen from East Legon.

Pulse.com.gh has learnt that offficials of the Ghana National Fire Service are at the scene frantically battling the raging fire.
