Upper West VRA/NEDCO workers protest against MD

The workers accused the MD of engaging in acts which are affecting the smooth running of the company

Offices of the Volta River Authority and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company VRA/NEDCO in the Upper West region have been closed to the public in protest against the MD, John Nuworklor and the area manager Stanley Issah.

In a petition to the regional minister Amin Amidu Sulemani, the workers accused the two of engaging in acts that are adversely affecting the image and administration of the company.

VRA/NEDCO supplies electricity to the three regions of the North and the Brong Ahafo region.

Mr. Nuworklor who has worked as VRA/NEDCO MD for about fifteen years is being accused of reshuffling area managers without due process.Spokesperson of the workers Osman Hussein addressing the press after presenting the petition said, the MD has betrayed the trust workers reposed in him.

"His management style has been characterized by intimidation, discrimination, vindictiveness and victimization of staff who he perceives as enemies." Hussein said

They workers said the MD has not been a good manager since he took over but his incompetence has been heightened after he made a woman suspected to be his girlfriend the human resource manager.

The regional minister is expected to forward the petition to President Mahama.

Attempts to reach Mr. Nuworklor for comment have not been successful.
